What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help us understand how visitors use our site so we can improve the experience.
Important: Your Files Are Never Tracked
MiOffice processes all files entirely in your browser. No files are uploaded to any server. Cookies on this site are used only for website analytics and advertising — they have absolutely no access to your files or document content.
Cookies We Use
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Retention | Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes unique visitors | 2 years | Analytics |
| _ga_TWHMEPKM7Q | Google Analytics | Maintains session state | 2 years | Analytics |
| _gcl_au | Google Ads | Stores ad click information for conversion tracking | 3 months | Advertising |
Essential Storage (Not Cookies)
MiOffice uses browser localStorage for application functionality. These are not cookies and are never sent to any server:
| Key | Purpose |
|---|---|
| mio_cookie_consent | Your cookie consent preference |
| mio_downloads | Download counter for engagement features |
| mio_history | Recent processing history (last 10 conversions) |
| theme | Light/dark theme preference |
Privacy-First Analytics
In addition to Google Analytics, we use Umami — a privacy-first, cookieless analytics platform that we self-host. Umami does not use cookies, does not collect IP addresses, and does not track users across sites. It is fully GDPR compliant without requiring consent.
Managing Your Preferences
When you first visit MiOffice, a cookie consent banner appears at the bottom of the page. You can accept or reject analytics and advertising cookies. If you reject cookies:
- Google Analytics and Google Ads cookies will not be set
- All MiOffice tools continue to work normally
- Umami analytics (cookieless) will still function as it requires no consent
To change your preference, clear your browser's localStorage for mioffice.ai (Developer Tools → Application → Local Storage → delete mio_cookie_consent) and the banner will reappear on your next visit.
Third-Party Cookies
Google Analytics and Google Ads may set additional third-party cookies. These are governed by Google's privacy policy. MiOffice does not control these cookies beyond gating their loading behind your consent choice.
